4 kids among 5 dead in Baltimore rowhouse fire - CBS News [ournewsa.blogspot.com]
BALTIMORE An intense fire that ripped through a row house in northeast Baltimore early Thursday has claimed the lives of an adult and four children, a fire official said.
Fire department spokesman Chief Kevin Cartwright says firefighters were called around 2 a.m. Thursday and arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the first floor of the home.
"This was literally an inferno," Cartwright said.
Cartwright says firefighters suppressed the heavy fire conditions and found the bodies of five people during a search and rescue operation. He says the victims are believed to be a grandmother and four grandchildren.
One person jumped from a second-floor window to escape the blaze, Cartwright said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
A firefighter was also injured when he fell through the second floor of the home into the basement. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.

There are two answers to this question. The first is obvious - don't use it - just get something else. Ubuntu is great. In a civilised world you'd simply sue Microsoft for damages, but that's not going to happen. You should contact Microsoft and tell them, and they should sort it out.

It means that you have Auto updates turned on and this is one of Microsofts' Validation tools. Your Windows copy is a pirate copy. You probably got it from a friend. Google Search "This copy of windows did not pass genuine windows validation" and you will get the answer you seek. Save it. then run it. Not that I know what "it" is.

You must have a pirated (illegal) copy of Windows. You can easily fix this by buying a new disc of Windows from a computer shop for "Microsoft Windows XP Professional Upgrade" (if it is home edition, substitute professional for home edition. Double check the disc is an "upgrade" version. Upgrade is cheaper than full version, but upgrade is for upgrading a pc with an older os. Ok, insert the disc while windows is running. Run the setup program. From there, make sure you see "Upgrade (Reccomended)" in a dropdown box, which may take a bit to appear. Setup everything. Ask your IT person for help. When install is all done, setup your pc with the first time wizard, then (if you have dialup or broadband internet) activate windows online or (if you don't have internet) call microsoft and ask them to help with windows activation. Now everything should work. Easy, yeah? Well, I think so. =)

This just happened to me too! I've never had this problem before and my computer isn't pirated or anything. It just came out of no where that "This copy of windows did not pass genuine windows validation" and when I turn on my computer I get this little window that says "resolve now" or I have to wait 4 second and choose "resolve later." I hope no one hacked into my computer =/. I read on the Microsoft website that if you have the disk and key for it, just mail it in to them and they'll validate your windows for free. The problem is, I've lost my CD a long time ago. But since you have yours, you could mail it in to them and they'll validate it for you. Message me if you find another way to resolve this.
