Vice President Biden said Tuesday that the middle class has been "buried the last four years" -- a practically gift-wrapped gaffe that Republicans immediately grabbed to hammer President Obama on the eve of the first presidential debate.Â
Biden made the remark at a campaign stop in Charlotte, N.C., in the course of slamming Republican tax policies which Democrats claim would cut taxes for the rich and hike them for the middle class.Â
"This is deadly earnest," Biden said. "How they can justify -- how they can justify raising taxes on the middle class that's been buried the last four years. How in the lord's name can they justify raising their taxes with these tax cuts?"Â
Mitt Romney, it turns out, couldn't agree more with the first part. Â Â
He tweeted: "Agree with @JoeBiden, the middle class has been buried the last 4 years, which is why we need a change in November #CantAfford4More."Â
Both the Romney campaign and The Republican National Committee got to work blasting out a clip of the comment Tuesday afternoon.Â
The Republican National Committee put out a release claiming Biden "admits" the middle class has been "buried" under Obama.Â
An RNC official told FoxNews.com: "Joe Biden said what so many Americans are feeling every day. For four years, the middle class has been buried by Obama's failed policies from higher taxes to more debt which is why he has a difficult time explaining why he deserves another term in the White House."Â
A Romney campaign email also included numerous examples of the middle class being "buried" during Obama's term -- by debt, by high unemployment and by falling incomes.Â
An Obama campaign official countered, blaming Republican policies for crushing the middle class -- well before Obama took office.Â
"As the Vice President has been saying all year and again in his remarks today, the middle class was punished by the failed Bush policies that crashed our economy -- and a vote for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan is a return to those failed policies. With more than five million private-sector jobs created since 2010, the Vice President and President Obama will continue to help the middle class recover and move the nation forward," the official said.Â
The comment came ahead of the first presidential debate, which will be held Wednesday in Denver and will focus on domestic policy.Â

Allow me to explain. Citizenship is defined, by The United States Supreme Court, as; "Citizenship is membership in a political society, and implies a DUTY OF ALLEGIANCE on the part of the member and a DUTY OF PROTECTION on the part of the society. These are reciprocal obligations, one being a compensation for the other."- Luria v. U.S, 231 U.S. 9, 22 [EMPHASIS MINE] Notice duty of allegiance in exchange for a duty of protection[1]. We find that without either element, their is no legal relationship, i.e. citizenship. It just so happens the US Supreme Court as well as every single State Supreme Court, have all unanimously ruled that government has no duty to protect. Hundreds, literally hundreds, of cases. No duty to protect= no duty of allegiance owed=no citizens. This raises issue with the matter of the legitimacy of the "State", or rather existence. A "State" is not something geographical, but rather political. Factually, a "State" is a political body, or "Body Politic", consisting of citizens who get together to do, say, XYZ. However, no citizens=no body politic. No body politic=no state. Suffice to say, no state=no "United States", no "Country" or "Nation", rather a HALLUCI-Nation. What you have is roughly 300 million, who are just people. Not "Citizens" living in "States", or other erroneous fictions, just real people in a real world. That isn't to say if you live, for example, in Oregon (the physical/geographical/tangible land mass), that you're living in a delusional figment. Section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." I was born in the United Sates therefore I am a Citizen - an American. edit- All in all, if I left the country and moved somewhere else I would still be referred to as American whether you like it or not. Just because the Supreme Court says one little thing, does not chang the United States nationality laws.
