Politics is usually people from the government. Policy is an written contract.

What is "Poltics" - The art or science of government or governing, especially the governing of a political entity, such as a nation, and the administration and control of its internal and external affairs. Why is there an "s" at the end of Politics? - goes way back into Greece and Roman naming...the original word "polis" eventually morphed into "politics" through different reigns of power. What is "Policy" - a high-level overall plan embracing the general goals and acceptable procedures especially of a governmental body.

Policy is what a government does to support its ideas. (laws..tariffs..wars..) Politics decides which ideas the government believes. (free trade, isolationism)
