The Policy - Are You Gonna Be My Girl? The Policy (and the awesome crowd) belting out a Jet classic!!
Harvard Law professor Elizabeth Warren was assertive, specific, cool under fire, informative and at times warm and humorous in her second debate performance â" not the sometimes schoolmarmish candidate of her first outing.
U.S. Sen. Scott Brown also was good in the faceoff in which moderator David Gregory of NBC focused on both character and issues. Iâd give Brown a B-plus. For instance, after Warren rebuked him for âvoting in lockstepâ with Senate Republicans, he retorted, âI donât work for anybodyâ in Congress. âI work for the people of Massachusetts,â a line that drew cheers from the audience.
But Warren, a first-time candidate, was at her best, showing sharp elbows and smartly addressing the greatest reservations about her character â" her sometimes slippery answers about whether she claimed to be a Native American, and benefitted from affirmative action to get her job at Harvard.
That was the first exchange with Brown right out of the box and he questioned her character for dodging questions from the media for weeks and â" he implied â" still not leveling with the voters.
âI think character is how you live your life,â Warren said. âI am the daughter of a janitorâ who âended up as a professor at Harvard Law School, working for the president of the United Statesâ on the creation of a federal consumer protection agency.
Warren didnât completely shake off the Indian issue, but she answered from the heart when she segued from an admission that she âshould have been fasterâ in answering the question into an emotional, rather endearing defense of why she never questioned the âfamily loreâ of being part Cherokee.
âI believe my mother and I canât imagine what kind of test of character it would be to say that my mother lied to me from the day I was born until the day she died.â Well said, Ms. Warren.
Both candidates mostly shunned some of the testiness of their first debate, although when Warren started speaking over Brownâs answer to a question, he (rightly) snapped, âIâm not a student in your classroom.â
In the end, both used humor to ease any rancor. He called Warren âa good professorâ and said he â[will work] to make sure she continues in that position.â
And when she was asked why no women have ever been elected governor or U.S. senator in Massachusetts, Warren said, âI donât know. [But] right now, Iâm trying to do something about that.â
Sheâs trying hard and improving against one of the greatest natural politicians Iâve ever covered.
So beware, Sen. Brown, youâd better be on your best game.
Your opponent isnât a political novice anymore. She has become a pro.

It means you can Convert a term life policy into a whole life policy without further qualification, Term life insurance doesn't accrue any cash value,,, all you are buying is insurance that pays out upon death of the insured,
Answer by Thomas A
This option is enerally available with Term Life policies. It means that before a certain date (Specified in your contract), you can choose to convert your term life into some flavor of permannt life policy without having to go with insurability tests again (blood work, MIB report, u/w process and all), just by stroke of a pen. Generally term premium payments are forfeited if no claim is filed during the policy term. But in case you convert to a whole life policy Insurance companies generally sum up all premiums paid till the conversion date and credit them towards your new permanent life policy. What is in it for Insurance Company - They lock you in for higher premium payments by giving up couple of thousand dollars. What is in it for you - As a consumer, I never understood why would someone pay agents thousands of dollars to open a CD. Yes thats what a whole life policy is, a Fixed income instrument. Hope it helps

Thomas A had it half right until he started comparing a Whole life policy to a CD. insurance is not a savings account! That's the most ridiculous thing I'm ever heard. Sounds like a Primerica agent that has not clue how whole life works. As previously mentioned, convertable is a term used with insurance policies. What this means, is at anytime you can convert a policy from the current policy to another policy. This is commonly used with term life insurance (there are some critical illness policies that can be converted to a long term care policy at a certain age as well, like with RBC Insurance). A term life insurance policy that is convertable, means it can be changed to a whole life policy at any time before the conversion date expires. The benefit to this is that you don't have to give medical evidence (no medical questions, no blood/urine analysis, etc). There are several benefits to the client: 1. If you're financial situation changes and you now need whole life insuance (IE: The markets tank and your investments will no longer be enough to provide for your family if you die tomorrow, or there isn't enough to pay for your funeral without insurance) 2. You don't have to provide medical information. No questions, no blood/urine analysis, etc. Just cut a check and sign the papers basically. 3. It's a back up plan, just in case. Sometimes after a couple years of having term people think it's a rip off becuase you don't get anything if you don't die, where as whole life at least gives you something back or that it might expire at age 85...what if you live longer? Do answer your second question: The lump sum you get when you cancel a policy is called the cash value. This is only available on whole policies or "term-100 policy with values".
