WASHINGTON - Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney says a drop in the nation's unemployment rate to 7.8 percent "is not what a real recovery looks like."
The former Massachusetts governor responded to the September jobs report out Friday by arguing that Obama has a failed record on the economy. He pointed to millions of Americans still struggling for work, living in poverty and using food stamps to feed their families.
He also argued that the rate is low in part because some people have stopped looking for work.

The Labor Department says 114,000 jobs were added last month, helping bring the jobless rate to its lowest point since Obama took office in January 2009.
The figures are a much-needed boost for Obama after a disappointing debate performance against Romney this week.

Question by Phi A: Is it right for President Obama to halt the policy "don't ask don't tell" in military services? I think it's good the he did that, but I also think its only good for those who are gay and lesbian that wants to be in the military. How about the rest of men and women that are serving right now, are they comfortable when they know there are more people will join and they can be publicly open now. What do you guys think??? Let me know Best answer for Is it right for President Obama to halt the policy "don't ask don't tell" in military services?:

Normally a COMMANDER IN CHIEF will value the opinions of his top advisers. This one doesn't.

Of course its right. 65,000 members of the military are gay currently. Each day, an average of 2 gay service members are dishonorably discharged from the military solely for being gay. It's governmental discrimination, and it's absolutely wrong.
Answer by I am who I am
NO!!! The military is full of uber males and females who like uber males. Could you imagine for one moment the fall out from "homosexual" male hitting on a straight guy during combat? Loaded weapons, high adrenaline, high testosterone? This was another blunder in the cabinet of stupidity.

They should just remove the restriction completely. Serving in the military is stressful enough, trying to hide your sexual orientation from everybody probably adds to that about 10 fold. If they want to serve they should be allowed to.

It's like this.... A soldier confided in another soldier, that he was gay... that soldier let it slip out to another person.... next thing you know an honorable person who served our country is getting a dishonorable discharge. Anyone think that's fair ? A dishonorable discharge is not a "small" punishment...it can ruin a person's future. Removing the "don't ask don't tell"....isn't going to make gays in the military put on pride marches and start waiving the gay banner during battles... they aren't going to start wearing the gay rainbow patch on their uniforms.... it simply means they can't be punished for it if someone finds out they are gay.

Yes. They deserve to be publicly open if they want to be. Straight men and women get to be open about their sexuality all the time, why shouldn't the same be true for others? People seem to make the mistake of thinking that because a man likes men, or a woman like women, that they automatically have the hots for you..get over yourselves, people. Anyway, it's a good thing. Dumb things like that policy need to be overturned.

"They" are always complaining that there aren't enough soldiers, that not enough people want to join up. So why WOULDN'T he remove a stupid policy that has doubtless stopped good men and women from joining? Why would someone join up and take the risk of being 'outed' and have their lives contaminated by a dishonourable discharge? As for 'straight' men and women, they should, indeed, get over themselves. Actually, probably better for the women, there have been reports of sexual assault and harassment from male military personnel. Remember the same big fuss about letting women serve? They serve in war zones now, and commendably.

I don't think they should let gays or lesbians into the military. I think it would cause too much of a distraction and too many problems with people not getting along. I don't think they do it to be mean to gay people but because it makes sense to keep them separated so everyone can remain focused on the mission. Isn't that why they don't allow females to serve in the infantry? It's not because they can't do the job, but because it keeps the infantry guys more focused on what they need to get done.
