New Hampshire man charged in murder of missing UNH student from Westborough - Boston.com [ournewsa.blogspot.com]
DOVER, N.H. -- A 29-year-old New Hampshire man has been charged with the murder of missing student Elizabeth Marriott, authorities said at a press conference here Saturday.
Seth J. Mazzaglia of Dover was arrested and charged with second-degree murder based on âÂÅ"credible information,â said New Hampshire assistant attorney general James C. Vara. Vara said the two knew each other, but declined to elaborate on their relationship, how Marriott died, or others details of the case, citing the âÂÅ"integrity of the ongoing investigation.âÂÂ
Vara said authorities were still searching for MarriottâÂâ¢s body. He would not confirm reports that an intensive search of Pierce Island in Portsmouth was related to the case. Vara said local, state, and federal investigators were using âÂÅ"every resourceâ in the search for the body.
Marriott, a 19-year-old student at the University of New Hampshire Durham and a native of Westborough, Mass., went missing Tuesday night after leaving the school̢剢s campus to visit friends in nearby Dover.
Marriott had been living with her aunt in Chester, N.H., and commuting to classes in Durham. Earlier Saturday, the aunt, Rebecca Tyning, described her niece as âÂÅ"an energetic college student pursuing her dreams.â Marriott was passionate about marine biology, Tyning said, and loved working as a volunteer at the Boston Aquarium.
âÂÅ"She must have been caught off guard,â said Nicole Downey, a Westborough woman who attended the press conference and described herself as MarriottâÂâ¢s âÂÅ"best friendâ from high school. âÂÅ"We used to playfully get in fights and she was strong. She could defend herself if she needed to.âÂÂ
Downey and her mother, Dawn, made the trip to the press conference from Westborough, where friends and family had assembled to join a search party before authorities told them to âÂÅ"stand downâ this morning.
Downey said she had never heard Marriott mention Mazzaglia, and that the two were not in a relationship. Downey said she had a âÂÅ"casual conversationâ with Marriott on Tuesday about her classes, and nothing seemed amiss. The conversation came just hours before her disappearance.
NicoleâÂâ¢s mother, Dawn Downey, said Marriott was a âÂÅ"beautiful girlâ who was the prom queen at Westborough High School, where she graduated in 2011. However, she said, Marriott was âÂÅ"too trusting.âÂÂ
âÂÅ"We were hoping she just made a teenage mistake and ran off,â Dawn Downey said. âÂÅ"We wanted to be able to yell at her for putting us through all this⦠I wish it didnâÂâ¢t end this way. She was a wonderful girl.âÂÂ
The family had offered a $ 10,000 reward for Marriott̢剢s safe return and, along with investigators and friends, organized searches of the coastal areas near Portsmouth before today̢剢s announcement.
According to his website, the arrested man, Mazzaglia, lives on Mill Street in Dover. His website says he is an âÂÅ"actor, writer and fight choreographerâ who has appeared in various productions at theaters in southern New Hampshire.
Mazzaglia also listed a variety of martial arts activities, including a third degree black belt in Okinawan Karate and sword technique, among his skills.
Bob Modee, who taught karate lessons with Mazzaglia at the Kittery Community Center in Kitterry, Me., for several years, said, âÂÅ"IâÂâ¢m completely stunned about whatâÂâ¢s happening. IâÂâ¢m having trouble even speaking, IâÂâ¢m in so much shock.âÂÂ

Let's go with the Christo-Judeo-Islamic model of a God. You're God. You created everyone and everything on Earth. You create a heaven for people who believe in your truth and behave accordingly. Now, to me, it would perfect sense to exclude evil people and non-believers from your paradise. But hell? Why? Being a perfect, omnipotent God you could simply "destroy" those people if you will, to eternal dreamless sleep while the righteous dwelt with you in heaven? What is the problem here? Best answer for Say you're an omnipotent God, what would be wrong with this "policy"?:

I don't believe in Christianity or Muslimisms. I believe what THE BIBLE teaches. And The Bible teaches that Hell is not a place of torment. Hell is actually a mistranslation of Gehenna, the "common grave of mankind", THATS IT. When making a conclusion based on the Bible, we must: *Think logically Acts 9:22 *Think reasonably Acts 17:2,3 *Let scripture interpret scripture Acts 17:11 *Don't be overwise, humbly examine scriptures Matt 11:25 *So, the result will be what Jesus said, worshiping what we KNOW John 4:22 *Most importantly, God reveals and opens hearts Acts 16:14 Now, on to teaching you the Truth about hell based on scripture. If you canât back yourself up scripturally, then be silent. Jer 7:31; 32:35 â" If a âHellâ were to exist, how would God feel about it? Jer 7:32,33 â" Hell is a mistranslation of Gehenna, and Gehenna is a Gr. Form of the Heb . Geh Hin-nomâ, âValley of Hinnomâ and the Bible makes no mention of eternal torment in Gehenna. It was a massive yard where dead bodies would burn for the PURPOSE of being completely destroyed. Jer 19:10,11 â" âHell aka Gehenna aka Valley of Hinnomâ was in Bible times as a common grave of mankind. Jer 31:40 â" This scripture mentions âthe low plain of the carcasses and of the fatty ashesâ. This is generally accepted as designating the Valley of Hinnom. This is where the dead bodies and body parts would go. Matt 5:3 â" Likewise, Jesus was saying itâs better to give up one part of your body âthan for your whole body to land in Gehennaâ. If Jesus symbolized Gehenna as hell, he would be blamed for making an idolatrous practice the basis for the symbolic meaning of Gehenna! Col 1:15 â" Paul said to âdeaden, therefore, your body membersâ. Similar to what Jesus said in Matt 5:3. Matt 10:28 â" If you pay attention, The Bible is pretty obvious in showing Jesus as symbolizing eternal destruction. Mark 9:47,48 â" In fact, read this scripture, and try to guess what Jesus was alluding to. (see below) Isaiah 66:24 â" Jesus alluded to this scripture describing Gehenna as a place âwhere their maggot does not die and the fire is not put outâ. This scripture in Isaiah is meant, not for those alive, but already dead; the carcasses. How are you to believe this? Maggots canât die? Fire canât be put out? Again, it symbolizes eternal DESTRUCTION. Not burning forever and ever. Things get more interesting about Hell. Read Revelation 20:14 â" Death is said to be hurled into this lake of fire, but death obviously cannot be literally burned. Revelation 20:10 â" The Devil, an INVISIBLE spirit creature, is thrown into the lake. Being spirit, he cannot be hurt by literal fire; because again, HELL is symbolic eternal destruction, not torment. (compare Ex 3:2 and Jg 13:20) This is not referring to conscious torment, because Ecclesiastes 9:5 says in death, there is no consciousness, no feeling of pain or suffering. Remember, the WHOLE Bible is in harmony. There is so much more to prove scripturally but I canât fit it in Yahoo. Sorry.

The problem there, is that there is no threat of suffering, and without that threat, there would be neither christian nor muslim in heaven.

Nothing wrong with it if that God was a sadist. It would be a God-thing.

If one is an omnipotent being, why not give the "evil" and "non-believer" people the chance to learn, even if it takes a trillion years? Why punish them forever?
Riz Khan - Afghanistans political impasseTwo months after Afghanistan's disputed elections, Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president, has finally admitted that he fell short of an outright victory in his country's presidential elections. The date for a runoff vote between Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah, his main challenger has been set for November 7. Fraud investigators have reportedly thrown out hundreds of thousands of ballots, bringing Karzai's percentage of the vote under 50 per cent and triggering a new election. But will the Afghan runoff election resolve the country's stalemate? And beyond the election results, the main issues remain: How to fix Afghanistan? How to have a central government that has legitimacy? And what policy will the Obama administration pursue in the country? In this episode, Anand Naidoo spoke with Fariba Nawa, an Afghan-American journalist; Shah Mahmoud Hanifi; a professor at James Madison University; and Christine Fair, a former political officer to the UN Assistance Mission to Afghanistan in Kabul and the author of Cuisines of the Axis of Evil and Other Irritating States: A Dinner Party Approach to International Relations.
