PARIS -- French children go to school four days a week. They have about two hours each day for lunch. And they have more vacation than their counterparts almost anywhere in the West. It may sound a bit like the famously leisurely work pace enjoyed by ... France looking to change four-day school schedule
FISHERSVILLE, Va. - Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has disavowed his controversial remarks dismissing "the 47 percent" of Americans who don't pay federal income taxes, saying in an interview Thursday night that the comments were "just completely wrong."
"My life has shown that I care about 100 percent, and that's been demonstrated throughout my life," Romney told conservative commentator Sean Hannity on Fox News. "And this whole campaign is about the 100 percent."
At a fund-raiser in May, Romney told wealthy donors that nearly half of Americans are government freeloaders who see themselves as "victims," can't be convinced to take personal responsibility for their lives, and will support President Obama in the election "no matter what."
"My job is not to worry about those people - I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives," Romney said.
When a surreptitiously recorded video of the event surfaced last month, Romney refused to back away from the comments, although he conceded that they were "not elegantly stated." But in battleground states, he saw his poll numbers slip as the Obama campaign used the remarks in its television ads to portray Romney as a plutocrat who doesn't understand the struggles of everyday Americans.
Romney was prepared to try to explain his remarks during the Wednesday debate, but he wasn't asked about them. On Thursday, Hannity asked the candidate what he would have said about the comments during the debate, if he had been given the opportunity.
"Well, clearly in a campaign, with hundreds if not thousands of speeches and question-and-answer sessions, now and then you're going to say something that doesn't come out right," Romney answered. "In this case, I said something that's just completely wrong."
"When I become president, it will be about helping the 100 percent," Romney said. "For me, this is all about the 100 percent. And, you know, the president can talk about the things he'd like to talk about - I'm going to talk about how I'm going to get America working again and help all the people of this country."
On Hannity's show Thursday, Romney, for the most part, did not gloat about his reviews from the debate. He demurred when the host asked him if perhaps former Vice President Al Gore was right that Obama's poor performance could be attributed to altitude sickness in Denver.
Romney - who was joined for part of the 15-minute interview by his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan - just chuckled and said he was glad the country had finally gotten a chance to hear him talk about his plans to create jobs and improve the economy.
Question by SingingStrings: What do they really mean when they say take a medicine "twice a day" with no hour specifics? I'm taking 500mg of Penicillin VK "twice a day" for 10 days. Am I correct to take this every 12 hours, since that's twice a day? People seem to beat around the bush and say "it varies" when asked...why is this? Best answer for What do they really mean when they say take a medicine "twice a day" with no hour specifics?:
Answer by pittyakker@btopenworld.com
You are right; twice a day means every 12 hours. 3 times a day would be every 8 hours and so on.
Answer by Gary B
the INTENT is to space them 12 hours apart. In reality, it "varies" from about 10 to about 14 hours, depending on your personal schedule. Any sooner that 10 houras is too soon, adn any later than 14 hours is too late.

Don't take any of them yet!! The math may be simple, but take them back to the pharmacy, and tell them they forgot to put the hour on the print out. better safe then sorry.

While 'twice a day' and 'every 12 hours' both mean 2 doses per day, they are very different. Every 12 hours is just that. Each dose is separated by 12 hours. Twice a day isn't as strict. Essentially it's 2 relatively evenly spaced doses taken during the hours that you are awake. For example, taken around breakfast and supper.
Answer by John de Witt
It means you're overthinking the probem. If you split the doses by twelve hours, that's fine. If you're off a couple of hours it won't make any difference. Just stop worrying and take the darned things.
Answer by C C
With antibiotics every 12 hours would be right since you want to have equal levels of the medication in your blood. It wouldn't be serious if you were an hour off either way but it also is easier with drug administration to keep the schedule at the same time for each dose, so you know you need to take it 8 AM & 8 PM all the time. Incidentally take the drug with food if it upsets you on an empty stomach.
