A technical glitch made viewing Bill O'Reilly-Jon Stewart debate a debacle.

The rumble was bungled.

A tech glitch derailed the wildly hyped online debate between Jon Stewart and Bill O’Reilly Saturday, triggering a mountain of mockery from frustrated fans.

An untold number of viewers missed out on the event, which cost $ 4.95 and was billed as “The Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium.”

“The Rumble 2012 will soon be followed by The Refund 2012,” Ted Shaker posted on Twitter.

“I’d pay to see the rumble going on in the IT room for the #Fumble2012,” tweeted Kevin Olivieri.

With the joke on them, the debate’s organizers posted an apology on Facebook, saying their servers were overloaded “due to overwhelming demand.”

Those who did see the debate on issues ranging from health care to the Middle East, were treated to an entertaining verbal sparring session marked by witty one-liners. Stewart’s opening line set the tone: “My friend Bill O’Reilly is completely full of s--t.”

He went on to label Fox News an “auto-immune disease of media representation, the lupus of media.” O’Reilly mocked Stewart just as relentlessly. Afterward, when Stewart was asked which political figure he most admires, O’Reilly cut in.

“What about Fidel?” he deadpanned. “I know you like him.”

After O’Reilly said he would like to see Clint Eastwood elected President, Stewart immediately interjected.

“Why don’t we ask him?” he said, riffing on the actor’s Republican National Convention speech.rschapiro@nydailynews.com
