Venezuelans living in the U.S. are expected to stream into New Orleans to cast ballots in the South American nation's presidential election.
With the country's consulate in Miami closed, thousands of Venezuelans made arrangements to travel by bus, car and plane to cast their votes Sunday at the consulate in New Orleans.

Many spent hundreds of dollars and in some cases more than a day of their time to make the trip. But some, especially those who want to stop President Hugo Chavez from being re-elected after 13 years in power, say they were determined to make the journey.
Chavez faces a challenge from Henrique Capriles, a 40-year-old former state governor who has pledged solutions to crime, corruption and poorly run public services.

Honesty is and always will be the best policy. Unfortunately, dealing with the consequences of being honest is often hard and people hate dealing with anything that is a challenge. I would like to note, however, opinion should always be noted as opinion and stressed that your opinion doesn't equal out to truth. This often helps lessen the consequences of honesty. Really the proverbial question here is the: "Does this *insert clothing item here* make me look fat?" Well if you think the clothes make the person look like they were shopping out of someone's trash can, you simply tell them that in your opinion, that shirt or whatever is totally the wrong color or pattern or whatever. Your point was to tell her she shouldn't buy it. You got that point across. As for the fat part, you probably wouldn't be hanging around with the person and being their friend if you really thought they were fat. Friends just don't do that kinda crap to each other.

Loved ** Banned and friendly assasin** answers !! I think honesty is always the best policy ! But I know there are times when honesty could endanger your life - like Banned wrote - war prisoner ! Or if your kidnapped and giving the info they needed would make you disposable and they would kill you ! Or if answering the question from a friend that would end up making them end up with low self-esteem ! My Foster Mother called it a "White Lie" ! Telling it in a round about way - stretching the truth a bit ! LoL

Honesty is always the Best policy, however there are ways that you can say the truth and making it a posiive result, for example if a pregnant woman asks if she looks fat you can say, "no, you look pregnant" BIG difference between lookin FAT and Pregnant. Biggest broblem with even the littlest white lie is that they are often discovered, or become something big, and the end result would be something worse than just being honest to begin with.

Depends on who is asking you the questions and depends on the circumstances 1) IN LOVE RELATIONSHIP - When it comes to love, honesty is always the best policy but if it is a one night stand and you regret doing it then HONESTY will definitely ruin the trust between you and it wont be same anymore but at least you wont have a conscience when you told your partner the truth. Dont count on hoping your partner will quickly forget what you did. About 90% of my friend never told their partner and they are still together now : married. In short, be honest when guilt is eating you inside but just beware of the consequences of telling the truth. 2) WITH STRANGERS - If a stranger asked you if she looked fat in the clothes she was thinking of buying SAY that she is 'NOT AS FAT AS SHE THINKS"and tell her that "ITS THE CLOTHES THAT IS NOT RIGHT FOR HER ". In short , be honest but make sure you sweeten your honest with honey. =). 3) WITH FRIENDS - with friends you always have to tell them the trust and be honest with them . ALWAYS even if its hurting them BUT you can always ignore the honest policy and give them a white lie when they wanted your support such as ; "Yes - he/she will come back to you one day" ( even when you know that they wont ) OR " Yes, you will make it and be famous one day" ( when you know that will never happen in a million years). In short - be as honest as you can with a friend , your friend deserve your honesty but lie when you think it would help them boost their confidence and break the truth when they are ready to hear it ).
