Lim Guan Eng: Johor DAP firing its first salvo in Johor JayaDemocratic Action Party (DAP) secretary general, Lim Guan Eng, who is also the chief minister of Penang, was in Taman Molek, here, recently, to attend the largest ever Johor DAP fund raising dinner. Some 3300 party supporters and well wishers attended the dinner function. Upon Lim's arrival, he was greeted with thunderous applause and was given a standing ovation by the crowd who have been waiting anxiously to hear him speak. He was escorted to the stage and waved to the applauding crowd and he started off by greeting the crowd in three languages much to the delight of crowd. Lim then smilingly said, this is his first experience to stand on a 360 degree stage to speak, and again the crowd reciprocated with loud applause and laughter. He told the crowd that, Johor DAP is firing its first salvo in Johor Jaya, by telling the BN government, specifically Malaysian Chinese Assocaition (MCA) chief, Chua Soi Lek, that the people in Johor is ready for change. Johor Jaya state seat is currently represented by the two term state assemblyperson, Tan Cher Puk, from MCA. Lim went on to highlight on the many successes of what the Penang government under the Pakatan rule have achieved over the last four years. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. â" Â The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an investigation of alleged fraud involving a company hired to register voters by the state's Republican Party.
The agency began investigating Strategic Allied Consulting on Wednesday after receiving a complaint from the Florida Division of Elections about suspicious forms submitted in several counties. The agency said it wouldn't comment until the investigation is complete.
The Republican Party of Florida fired the company after reports that suspicious forms were being turned in. The party paid Strategic Allied Consulting $ 1.3 million.
State parties in North Carolina and Virginia also have fired the company, which was hired by Republicans in several presidential battleground states to register voters.
The company spokesman said it will cooperate with the investigation and blamed problems on employees not following rules.
